  What has happened to the once beautiful Bell Hotel? One of the oldest hotels in the country has been redecorated like an IKEA display and it seems the service has gone down with it. I have been visiting this place to eat and drink for over 30 years and almost all the character has gone. At my last visit on 21/05/17, I had to wait over 10 minutes before the hound barmaid decided to stop walking around the restaurant and come and serve me. She knew I was there because she had already walked away after serving the customer in front of me. She was non-apologetic and rude, saying not one word apart from how much the round of drinks was. It's a real pity that someone has seen fit to change the interior of such an historic building using awful modern furniture and that the staff are no longer as friendly and polite as they used to be.

  Friendly staff in a nicely decorated bar. Limited lager on tap and mildly over priced. Comfortable chairs in the garden out the rear. Would recommend.
